Job Summary
|
The Video Engineer will provide technical support in events, performances, arts installations, creative productions, research projects, and in the execution of all technically and artistically defined video tasks in the areas of recording, editing and mastering. The Video Engineer will be responsible for set-up, operation, and breakdown of equipment for assigned projects. This position will interface with EMPAC staff, visiting artists, researchers and campus media operations in defining technical parameters in the area of image capturing, processing, and presentation for upcoming projects, and assists the Lead Video Engineer in the implementation and maintenance of EMPAC image and video systems. The Video Engineer collaborates daily with the Lead Video Engineer and campus constituents as appropriate to ensure EMPAC video systems appropriately support EMPAC productions.

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Associate's Degree with emphasis on Video Technology or "Arts and Technology"
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in hardware & software systems for digital video, with special emphasis in a minimum of any three of the following areas: (a) experimental arts, contemporary video productions, artistic installations, (b) live shows and events with live processing of video, (c) recording, processing and mastering of digital video, (d) broadcasting, (e) professional level video projection systems in standard and non-standard configurations
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
|
- Bachelor's Degree in Video Technology or Arts and Technology
- Professional experience in hardware and software systems for video with an emphasis on live shows and video recording and mixing systems.
|
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
- Highly developed skills in logistics and communication, in order to support complex video productions and to work in teams of varying size
- A high competence of verbal skills is necessary to communicate with artists
- Knowledge of digital and analog technology for video
- Requires planning, organizing and effective time management skills
- Requires ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
- Willingness to work in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $26.30 - $29.75 / hr
