Job Summary

Lecturer or Senior Lecturer & Program Administrator for MBA in Life Sciences Entrepreneurship

The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is looking for a full-time contingent faculty member responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate programs, and for coordinating the MBA concentration in Life Sciences Entrepreneurship (LSE). The start date for the position is anticipated to be January 2022.   This is a 12 month, full time position.

The teaching portion of the position involves a maximum of four (4) courses per year, in areas related to LSE and Management disciplines.

The Program Administrator duties will cover all aspects of the LSE program, including facilitating sustainable enrollment, program promotion, forging industry relationships, and related activities involved in creating an education-centric eco-system that enables entrepreneurship in the Life Sciences sector in New York State. The following describes general responsibilities and duties:

1. Coordinate with internal Institute stakeholders and external program partners in New York City to ensure high quality delivery of all classes associated with the MBA LSE Concentration, and associated certificate programs.
2. Develop and teach a Practicum class in LSE, offered once per academic year.
3. Develop and strengthen industry relationships with the Life Science sector, especially in New York State, to seek projects as needed for capstone experiences, enhance student placement, and improve engagement with the industry.
4. As part of cultivating program reputation, organize an annual LSE workshop at Lally to bring industry experts/innovators and LSE thought leaders together, particularly leveraging entities that already exist at the Institute.
5. Work with Division of Enrollment Management, develop a plan and strategies to ensure robust and sustainable student enrollment. Also, in conjunction with career development services (CCPD) at the Institute, develop a plan and strategies for successful student placement in the life sciences sector, particularly in NYS.
6. As part of enhancing student networking with practitioners, organize industry visits for the students, for example, using nearby LSE hubs in Boston and New York City.
7. Prepare semiannual and annual progress reports on the above to Dean, Associate Dean, and Director of Master’s programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates will have, at least a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA).  A Ph.D. in Life Sciences or a Management/Business related discipline is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have teaching experience in an educational setting, and a record of accomplishment of working with a broad group of individuals, such as faculty at Schools of Management, Engineering, Science, and Medicine, as well as industry professionals and entrepreneurs.

Candidates for Lecturer must demonstrate expertise and/or experience in a specific academic course subject, academic discipline area, and must have had prior substantive teaching experience and/or experience as a practicing professional at a senior level. Those being considered at the Sr. Lecturer must also have attained a significant level of scholarly and/or research activity and/or funding.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Candidate must have demonstrated communication and organizational skills as well as relevant teaching and industry experience
