Job Summary

Under supervision the Head Athletic Trainer, the Athletic Training Associate implements sports medicine and athletic injury treatment and prevention programs for all Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute intercollegiate athletes. The prevention and care of athletic injuries is accomplished through emergency treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning, and athletic counseling.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or related health field required
• Certification by the National Athletics Trainers Association required
• Valid US Driver’s license
• Eligible to attain New York State License
• CPR Certified

Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of an athletic training program
• Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the prevention and management of       injuries in student athletes
• Ability to initiate, develop and maintain contacts appropriate to an athletic training program;       maintain confidentiality
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide       range of constituencies in a diverse community
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
• Fitness level required to perform manual exercises and stretching and to carry heavy weights
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Effective planning, organizing and time management skills

Shift

Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

Travel

Occasional overnight travel may be required (10% or less)
