Job Summary
|
The Systems Administrator II is responsible for providing systems administration of complex and specialized systems, especially Windows and Linux servers, and common server application. The incumbent will use their experience with virtualization, scripting, automation, service management and related skills to plan, configure, troubleshoot, analyze and maintain systems, with a focus on enabling cutting-edge teaching and research activities. The Systems Administrator II leads projects and participates in complex projects. The Systems Administrator II works closely with other technical and IT leadership staff providing high-level guidance, mentoring and training which includes the development of other technical employees.

Minimum Qualifications
|
Associate's degree and four (4) or more years of relevant professional work experience including: -working with virtualization, containerization, scripting, monitoring, and automation technologies; -supporting common server and client operating systems applications, and their configuration -contributing to projects with multiple people and working on multiple projects simultaneously
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.

Bachelor’s degree and experience within higher education

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
- Day to day systems administration for Windows and Linux servers and applications, including design, setup, documentation, maintenance and troubleshooting, backup and restoration
- Ability to administer common services such as: device management, software deployment, file and print services, asset management, LAMP stack, license, database, version control, backup
- Experience with technologies such as: virtualization, containerization, scripting, monitoring, automation, TCP/IP networking, Active Directory, Azure, AWS
- Experience with: IT Service Management (ITSM) including service design, deployment, administration and continual service improvement of IT systems and services
- Knowledge of systems administration principles
- Knowledge with IT service management practices
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues
- Ability to pick up new skills and understand new environments quickly
- Ability to provide training to all levels
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet goals and deadlines
- Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with colleagues and users in a diverse environment
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member
