Job Summary

The Assistant Dean for Off Campus Commons is responsible for providing support for Clustered Learning, Advocacy and Support for students (CLASS) through the implementation of programs and services for students living in the off-campus commons. In addition, the Assistant Dean, will oversee all elements of the Safe Ride program. The incumbent will develop all policies and procedures, marketing strategies, data collection methods and provide daily management for 1525 15th Street facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in student personnel, higher education administration, or counseling or related area.

Two (2) or more years of experience in a closely related position in Student Affairs with preference for experience directly working with commuter and/or off campus students

Ability to travel to on-campus and off-campus locations within the Capital District as a requirement of on-call duties

A relevant combination of education, training and directly related experience may be substituted for the master's degree 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge and understanding of commuter students and services, and national best practices
• Demonstrated understanding of student and identity development theory and ability to apply constructs in programming
• Experience in development of programs and services for off-campus or commuter services
• Experience responding appropriately to student concerns and manage student issues
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives

Shift

Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

Travel

Local travel between campus locations only

Driving

Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use
