Job Summary

The Director of Research Grants is responsible for working with Rensselaer's faculty and the Office of Research  to manage and facilitate the submission of large, multidisciplinary and multi-collaborative grant proposals to a wide range of funding agencies that will advance Rensselaer’s research reputation. The Director of Research Grants will also monitor federal, state, and industry funding trends and facilitate responses to such opportunities by Rensselaer faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and five (5) or more years of related and progressively responsible experience, including demonstrated proposal development experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree
• Experience interpreting and applying various funding agencies' technical requirements and procedures
• Experience writing and coordinating multidisciplinary sponsored research and private grant proposals for a variety of funding sources 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to interview researchers and synthesize technical material in a compelling way
• Ability to effectively lead and participate in teams to successful completion of stated goals
• Knowledge of the principles and practices pertaining to developing and administering research grant proposals and awards in compliance with sponsor, federal, state, and university regulations.
• Skill in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
• Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment
• Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
• Demonstrated coordination and leadership skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office
