Job Summary

The Electronic Field Service Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Campus Automation System (CAS), which includes the control and maintenance of building, environmental and energy management systems. Works closely with the Automation Technician under the direction of the Supervisor of the HVAC Shop.

Minimum Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of related and progressively more responsible experience or an Associate’s Degree in electronic design or HVAC with 4 years of related and progressively responsible experience with HVAC controls
  • Valid US driver’s license

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough working knowledge in HVAC system control, operation, and troubleshooting computer based electrical and electronic systems
  • Ability to read plans, specifications, schematic drawings and sketches
  • Requires excellent customer relation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex problems in field
  • Organizes and completes jobs safely and accurately
  • Able to work effectively with representatives/workers from all fields, regardless of level, e.g., architects, engineers, construction and trades supervisors, and various RPI clients from students to institute hierarchy in both public and private/residential spaces
  • Continuous learner, i.e., keeps current with technological changes

Business Hours: Monday - Friday

Travel

Local travel between campus locations only

Driving

Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use
