Job Summary
|
The Assistant Dean for Student Success and Belonging is responsible for providing leadership and direction of Student Success initiatives. The Assistant Dean collaborates with other portfolio areas throughout Student Life and across the Institute to advance efforts to foster the academic success for underrepresented minority students. The Assistant Dean provides leadership in developing and implementing programs and policies, which support the Institute’s vision for the recruitment, matriculation, success, and graduation of students who come from underrepresented backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Master's Degree in related field
- Two (2) years of experience in higher education and demonstrated knowledge in research and practice in the field of diversity, justice, critical methodologies, and equity in education. Experience with assessment and experience with working with inter-personal, inter-cultural, civic programs in higher education setting is required
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
|
- Master's Degree in sociology, psychology, student personnel, counseling, higher education or related fields

- Demonstrated high degree of effective listening and communication skills, verbal and written
- Conflict Resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate across many departments, functions, divisions, communities
- Experience in developing and implementing diversity and inclusion programs in a higher education environment
- Ability to articulate, develop, and manage program and improvement initiatives
- Ability to provide exemplary response to diverse constituencies while maintaining impartiality and integrity

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $63,000- $66,000
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
