Job Summary

Incumbents are hired on an if/when needed basis during events at the Houston Field House. Representative assignments include:

Parking Lot Attendant: Sell lot spaces, and keep supervisor apprised of any problems or issues that arise.

Usher: Assist patrons entering and exiting the building with seating, directions, etc.. Enforce Field House rules regarding blocking aisles, no smoking, no alcohol, etc., and keep supervisor apprised of any problems or issues that arise.

Zamboni Driver: Operate zamboni ice resurfacer as required; Assist in ice making operations, maintain ice and repair damaged ice; Clean locker rooms after use, check for and report damage in locker rooms; clear lockers.

Box Office Clerk: Assigns seats and sells tickets using an automated ticket system. Processes cash, credit cards and check sales. Balances cash drawer and maintains appropriate sales records. Answers telephone calls and assists patrons with information.

Ticket Taker: Take ticket from patron, check validity. Provide verbal directions and information as required and requested. Maintain order and traffic flow of patrons entering the building. Keep supervisor apprised of all problems and issues that arise. In the event of an emergency, assist patrons exiting the building. At the end of an event, assist patrons exiting the building, maintaining an orderly flow of traffic.

Sound Technician: Set sound equipment, including headsets, level sound booth in sync with announcer, canned music, and live music. Trouble shoot sound problems throughout event. Secure all sound equipment after event.

Minimum Qualifications

All positions require superb customer service skills and ability to follow directions, and the ability and willingness to comply with safety rules and procedures to ensure personal safety and safety of others.  Individuals under 18 years of age must have working paters.

Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Usher- Ability to stand for long periods of time

Parking Lot Attendant- Attention to detail for counting change, collecting monies and accounting for ticket stubs – Ability to stand for long periods of time – Ability to spend long periods of time in outdoor environment

Zamboni Driver- Ability to operate the Zamboni ice re-surfacer with a high degree of skill, using the tandem machine pattern (Must have a valid US driver’s license -Must be 18 years of age or older)

Box Office Clerk- High School diploma or equivalent – Demonstrated math ability – Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ticket Taker- Ability to stand for long periods of time

Sound Technician-Demonstrated ability and knowledge of sound equipment with set up and operation

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $16.00

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.

The Captain also coordinates large-scale emergency drills, facilitates law enforcement partnerships, and leads outreach programs with students, faculty, and staff to build trust and foster a safe, inclusive campus community.

Manager, Administrative Operations (Internal Only)

Troy, NY Athletics
This is an internal posting. The Manager, Administrative Operations will provide direct support to the Athletic Director. The Manager will collaborate with the office of Alumni Engagement to ensure alumni engagement opportunities within athletics are designed and executed within the vision of both offices. The Manager will support the coaching staff and Athletic Director with annual engagement activities such as alumni games, celebratory events (50th anniversary or milestone), Institute-related fundraising travel, and Athletic Alumni Council. The Manager will assist with special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director or other Senior members of the Athletic Staff ensuring short-term and long-term goals are met in alignment with the mission of the Institute and the department.
