Manager, Administrative Operations (Internal Only)

The Manager, Administrative Operations will provide direct support to the Athletic Director. The Manager will collaborate with the office of Alumni Engagement to ensure alumni engagement opportunities within athletics are designed and executed within the vision of both offices. The Manager will support the coaching staff and Athletic Director with annual engagement activities such as alumni games, celebratory events (50th anniversary or milestone), Institute-related fundraising travel, and Athletic Alumni Council.
The Manager will assist with special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director or other Senior members of the Athletic Staff ensuring short-term and long-term goals are met in alignment with the mission of the Institute and the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Sports Administration or relevant field
- Two (2) or more years of experience in athletics administration
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Representative Job Duties:
- Lead the coordination of alumni engagement events that occur within Athletic facilities, including but not limited to Reunion & Homecoming, Annual Rivalry games, Big Red Freakout, Alumni Athletic Games, Anniversary celebrations, away travel in areas of densely populated alumni, etc.
- Provide support to the Director of Athletics; manage the Director’s calendar within the guidelines of the Director’s preferences and independently schedule appointments; arrange complex and detailed travel arrangements and itineraries; compile documents for travel-related meetings; coordinate and place conference calls. Set up meetings and conference calls.
- Work closely with the Director of Athletics and Senior members of the department to execute fundraising opportunities such as RPi Day, monthly travel to visit Alumni, Athletics Council Meeting materials, and sport-specific fundraising goals.
- Oversee department-level signature events such as, but not limited to, Senior Athlete Banquet, Hall of Fame Banquet, Let’s Go Red! Golf tournament, sport fundraising events, and other engagement opportunities as required. Execute and coordinate logistics (food, room reservations, guest speakers, guests in attendance/invitations).
- Execute short and long-term strategic initiatives as assigned by the Director of Athletics or other Senior members of the athletic staff.
- Manage the recruitment and selection of staff, coaches, and students; execute human resource functions: scheduling, hiring, evaluating, training, developing, supporting, mentoring and when necessary, counseling, initiating disciplinary actions and maintaining manuals.
- Oversee the general conduct of the supervised programs including but not limited to, player/coach relationships, event management, travels arrangements, academics, competitiveness, and athlete behavior and conduct. Advises the Athletic Director on all matters concerning any of the athletic programs and gender related issues and immediately reports any concerns and violations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Starting Salary/Rate:
Expected hiring range: $75,000 - $80,000 / yr

This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
