Job Summary

The Operations Specialist provides operational support for, oversees the day-to-day operations of, and serves as the first point of contact for the office of International Services for Students and Scholars (ISSS), and provides secondary support to the Office of International Programs (OIP). The Specialist also provides triage of student immigration issues and handles multiple issues and concerns as they arise from students, staff, faculty, administrative offices and, on occasion, parents and families.

Minimum Qualifications

High School/Equivalent and three or more years of experience in a related setting.

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Higher Education processes related to international services, students, and scholars. 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires
• Proficiency with MS Office (word, excel, access, outlook)
• Ability to prioritize work
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Must possess the skills necessary to deliver exemplary customer service
• Ability to work with a diverse community and create an inclusive environment
• Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
• Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced office

Preferred Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities

Preferred:
• Knowledge of BANNER, OSCAR, and OBIEE software
• Basic understanding of F-1 and J-1 nonimmigrant visa regulations
• Knowledge of SEVIS and/or Terra Dotta Software (or similar tracking software)

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $19.00 - $21.92 / hr

This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
