Job Summary

The Director of the Stem Cell Research Core will oversee the day-to-day management of the Stem Cell Core facilities. The Director will organize and conduct user training and assist investigators with equipment use and with the development of research protocols, ISCRO submissions and funding proposals. The Director is expected to remain current with the latest advances in stem cell biology and instrumentation through interactions with vendors and conference attendance. The Director also will manage the billing and financial aspects of the Core. The Director also will be expected to participate actively in stem cell research activities and to submit grant submissions for relevant research and equipment funding opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate (ex: Ph.D./J.D./Ed.D. or other) in a life science field or related field
  • Minimum three (3) years direct experience with stem cell research; use and administration of image analysis software and archiving
  • Microscopy experience and familiarity with confocal microscopes and digital imaging, computer (PC) and instrumentation skills

Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with single-cell technologies is preferred 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of diagnostic techniques for a wide variety of sensors and equipment
  • Knowledge of ISCRO, NAS, ISSCR and NYSTEM guidelines for stem cell research
  • Planning, organizing and effective time management skills
  • Desire and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical and other data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems
  • Ability to work independently
