Job Summary

The Business Administrator, Sr. will manage the assigned business functions for Academic Affairs and provide support to the Provost’s office including but not limited to providing support to Deans, staff and students. This position will provide complete support and management of all applicable fund types within assigned portfolios providing administrative, accounting, complete proposal assistance, budgeting, reporting, and make strategic recommendations to The Manager of Academic Administration & Budget (Manager) & related Deans regarding fund usage and spending. This position provides timely processing, proactive management and proper open communication to keep the Manager & Deans aware of fund status to ensure compliance at all levels at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or similar field
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience to including three (3) years of work experience in the administration, monitoring and management of research and/or other closely related types of restricted funds
  • A relevant combination of education and directly related experience in higher education may be substituted for a degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with federal and state government regulations as they pertain to research administration
  • Experience managing the administrative and business functions for a university research center or department; including budget preparation,
    proposal preparation, financial management, and human resources activities
  • Demonstrated proposal development and management experience 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and interpret reports, documents and statistical data
  • Ability to perform budget reporting and forecasting, as well as account reconciliation
  • Knowledge of financial software, including spreadsheet, database, and data warehouse applications
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite software applications
  • Ability to learn and/or use SCT Banner finance, position control and labor modules or other appropriate applications
  • Knowledge of fund based budgeting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work as individually or as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
