Job Summary

The Associate Curator, Music develops, implements and manages EMPAC programs under the guidance of the Director and in close collaboration with the other curators, in the field of music, music theater, sound installations, and artistic use of sound in general; implements and manages EMPAC specific programs for artists residencies, events, performances, symposia in collaboration with the Director and the curatorial team; develops curatorial concepts, produces and manages performances and projects in cooperation with the EMPAC Director, the other curators and production and administrative staff; develops concepts for funding strategies, public relations activities, and contractual and financial aspects of specific projects in coordination with director and with PR and administrative staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in music or related field

• 3 or more years of experience

• Bachelor's Degree in music or related field.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience at the intersection of curatorial, programming and producing work in music.

Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Music.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of contemporary artistic developments in music nationally and with an international perspective• Knowledge of aesthetical and practical implications of digital technology in music• Ability to read Western music notation fluently with working knowledge of classical harmonic frame works and have an understanding in non-Western and non-classical music cultures.
• Knowledge of and experience with digital technology as a compositional, production and performance tool in both music and the performing and time-based arts.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to work independently and as part diverse teams
• Demonstrated planning and effective time management skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
• Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to understand Department, Division and Institute wide goals, and to apply these goals to the duties and responsibilities of the position
• Ability to oversee the tracking of project progress and costs

Appointment Type

Full time, fixed term two year appointment


Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required


Occasional overnight travel may be required(10% or less)
