Job Summary

The International Student Advisor provides immigration advising and assistance for all F-1 visa holding international students and their dependents. This Advisor will assist with institutional compliance as related to the F-1 visa, including reporting and monitoring data as required in the Student and Immigration Visitor Information System (SEVIS), and in the Terra Dotta management software. The International Student Advisor provides workshops on F-1 visa benefits such as OPT and CPT, and aids in the development of ongoing workshops for international students in the ARCH. The Advisor serves as the point person for ARCH and CCPD.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree  and two or more years of experience in fields related to International Education

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree 
Experience in interpretation of and advising on F-1 visa regulations
Experience studying and/or living abroad 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of U.S. immigration laws and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a variety of different cultures.
- Ability to analyze complex immigration issues involving a variety of individuals, situations, rules and external agencies and bring them to satisfactory resolution
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex information effectively.
- Demonstrated success in working and communicating effectively with individuals of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Effective planning, organizing and effective time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems.


Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required


Occasional overnight travel may be required (10% or less)


Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use
