Job Summary

The Case Manager is a behavioral health professional and is part of the multidisciplinary, integrated Rensselaer Student Health team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as an Institute-wide priority. The Case Manager provides developmentally appropriate services through Clustered Learning, Advocacy and Support for Students (CLASS), with a focus in three main areas: 1) clinical case management, 2) consultation and referral services, and 3) outreach and prevention education.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Human Services or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience providing case management services

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Social Work, Counseling or related field
  • Current New York State license or ability to obtain license within three (3) months of start date
  • One (1) year of experience providing case management services

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of developmental, psychological and medical issues in the college student population.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
• Ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse student groups, medical and mental health staff, and campus and community partners.
• Demonstrated high degree of effective listening and communication skills, verbal and written
• Demonstrated high degree of inter-personal and inter-cultural competencies
• Conflict Resolution skills
• Ability to articulate, develop, and manage program and improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated Experience in public speaking
• Ability to provide exemplary response to diverse constituencies while maintaining impartiality and integrity
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical-thinking skills, use of sound judgment
• Strong attention to accuracy and detail
