Job Summary
|
The Department of Communication and Media at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Speech Communication, beginning in August 2024. The candidate would join a dynamic, growing faculty researching communication and media from a broad range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields.

Minimum Qualifications
|
Candidates must possess a PhD in speech communication, rhetoric/persuasion, debate, political communication, legal rhetoric or a related field. Evidence of effective teaching, and the ability to demonstrate, through accomplishment, promise of academic, scholarly and/or research achievement in and/or commitment to speech communication, rhetoric/persuasion, debate, political communication, legal rhetoric, or freedom of speech.
For appointment at the rank of Senior Lecturer, candidates must also have attained a significant level of scholarly activity, research output, or individual creative practice.
Applicants must meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
|
Experience in and/or commitment to public-facing, participatory, or community-engaged scholarship is desirable.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
Applicants must have a record of research and scholarly publications as well as evidence of successful collegiate teaching at the time of appointment.

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range:
- Lecturer: 55,500 - 65,000
- Sr. Lecturer: 65,500-75,000
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
