Job Summary

The Event Technician, Stage Technologies will be a generalist in all production departments (audio, video, and stage technologies) and specialize in the lighting field of the stage technologies department. The Event Technician will support the installation, operation, and strike of technical performance systems during residencies, research, and events. In addition, the Event Technician, Stage Technologies will maintain working knowledge of current lighting and staging equipment and their integration with other production systems (audio, video), and utilize this expertise in upholding the high production standards of EMPAC events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) or more years of general production experience required, including two (2) or more years of stage-related experience (lighting, carpentry, rigging, stage design, etc.)

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in theater; stage production related
  • Two (2) years in audio/video production environment, executing event set-up, operation and strike, or in production lighting field with audio/video production 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of lighting equipment, infrastructure, basic theater electrics, and general industry practices applicable to the lighting of: live productions, theatrical performances, art installations, performance art, concerts, film shoots or special events
  • Ability to operate and program lighting consoles
  • Skills include electronic and lighting equipment repair
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Shift

Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

Travel

Occasional overnight travel may be required (10% or less)

Driving

Incidental driving possible, but not required

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $24.00 - $25.55 per hour
