Job Summary
|
Lecturer Position in Information Technology and Web Sciences
The Information Technology and Web Science Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has a position open at the Lecturer.
Minimally, candidates must possess a terminal degree in Information Technology (IT) or related field of study with at least five years of direct relevant work experience beyond their graduation; preferably professional and/or management experience in an IT field that includes significant contributions and/ or impact. Prior successful teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable and evidence of teaching effectiveness may include student evaluations, syllabi, and/or sample assignments. Any teaching statement should be included in an application.
We are seeking applicants from all areas of Information Technology/ Applied Computer Science with preference given to candidates with research and relevant work experience/ specialty in one or more of the following fields:
- Data science, data analytics, including big-data technologies - Informatics, and/or information science, visual analytics, and interface design - Management of information technology resources - Information systems security, cybersecurity - Web technologies, (front-end, back-end) and/or Web science
The successful candidate will be able to teach a range of undergraduate, and graduate information technology/ applied computer science courses in both on campus/ synchronous settings as well as blended/ low-residency formats. Candidates may instruct in both core and concentration courses, co-advise students in their plans of study, advise projects and independent study courses. Suitable candidates may develop new or adapt existing courses in the candidate's area of specialty, under guidance from the program director and curriculum committees.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
The Lecturer will be a skilled communicator in multiple settings and methods, include teaching, presenting, writing, and electronic communication. The incumbent must be proficient in current electronic devices and personal computing technology

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range:
- Lecturer: $70,000- $77,075 per 9-month academic year
Pay Transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
