Job Summary
|
The Public Relations and Marketing Specialist is a communications generalist who is responsible for developing and promoting RPI stories as assigned to elevate the RPI brand and engage key audiences. The Public Relations and Marketing Specialist focuses on media relations and multichannel storytelling, ensuring that it aligns with RPI’s strategic goals. The Public Relations and Marketing Specialist will collaborate with colleagues in OCEC and across the Institute on various public relations and marketing opportunities and projects. The Public Relations and Marketing Specialist will also work with Media Relations Managers and the AVP of Marketing and Communications to develop comprehensive and integrated PR campaigns that elevate the reputation of the university. This position reports to the Vice President, Communications in the Office of Community Engagement and Communications (OCEC).

Minimum Qualifications
|
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field. • 3 years of experience in public relations, communications or multimedia storytelling. • Experience in Higher Education
An advanced degree may be substituted for some of the related work experience. Conversely, additional directly related expmust meet stated minimum education and experience requirements.

• Master's degree in communication, marketing, journalism, or a related field
• Work experience in higher education

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
• Ability to write news releases • Ability to analyze content performance data and optimize strategy accordingly • Proficiency in AP writing style and strong storytelling skills • Ability to monitor campaigns • Ability to develop communication plans • Demonstrated ability to work with press, understanding of what information is appropriate for public distribution • Curious, and interested in learning and deepening skills

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring amount: $60,406
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
