Job Summary
|
The Associate Vice Provost (AVP) is a key member of the Student Experience leadership team and plays a vital role in setting the strategic direction for Student Health and Wellness. The AVP proactively addresses opportunities and challenges, manages resources, formulates policies, and builds essential relationships with academic and administrative colleagues. The AVP will work closely with a range of stakeholders to cultivate an environment that prioritizes student well-being and will have direct oversight of the Student Health Center, Student Counseling and Psychological Services, and Case Management, fostering programs and services that contribute to a holistic and healthy campus culture. The AVP oversees the Student Health Insurance Plan and partners with Athletics on supervision of athletic trainers.

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Master’s Degree in higher education administration, education, health, psychology or related field
- Ten (10)+ years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of an educational institution (especially with respect to student affairs in residential higher education)

Preferred Qualifications
|
- Doctorate (ex: Ph.D., J.D., Ed.D. or other) in higher education administration, education, health, psychology or related field
|

|
- Knowledge of the issues and opportunities of a private technological research university
- Knowledge of higher education institutions, evidence-based student health and wellness frameworks, and business acumen
- Demonstrated commitment to furthering a high level of cooperation between student experience and academics
- Ability to assess, understand and be a key advocate for a healthy campus climate
- A commitment to contribute to Rensselaer’s ongoing effort to promote a diverse and open campus community
- Competence with the use of research and assessment tools to monitor progress in meeting goals
- A demonstrated record of success in managing conflict
- Ability to develop and maintain productive community and campus partnerships
- Proven ability to collaborate, both effectively and with enthusiasm
- Strong strategic planning skills
- Proven ability to achieve buy-in and ownership of change
- Requires strong leadership skills and ability to communicate and interact with diverse groups of customers
- Requires expert financial acumen
- Requires ability to effectively present information to internal and external groups and audiences
- Requires ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex regulations and documents, financial and business reports, and technical journals
- Thorough knowledge of student development and wellness theories and their application to students at a highly selective technological research university
- Working knowledge of legal and compliance issues related to student health, FERPA, HIPAA, student affairs, and Title IX
- Demonstrated excellent leadership skills, especially the ability to establish standards of quality, to communicate those standards clearly, and to assess personnel based on those standards
- Demonstrated effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $180,000 - $200,000 /yr
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
