To propel its institutional mission and accelerate impact, RPI is seeking a visionary, creative and results-driven Chief Marketing Officer to pioneer growth and optimize performance. Reporting directly to RPI’s President, Martin Schmidt, this newly-created position is a unique calling for a marketing leader who seeks to serve a mission of significant consequence and to innovate beyond conventional approaches. The Chief Marketing Officer will also serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet and will play a pivotal role in shaping the Institute's overall strategic direction.

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Media Relations, or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic marketing
- Ideally, leading a portfolio of activities, including; digital and content marketing, brand management, strategic communication and public relations, planning, research and data analytics.
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's Degree in marketing, communications, or related field
|

|
- Demonstrated growth mindset, recognizing that even having achieved significant success, there are always opportunities to learn and to make an even greater impact.
- Background working in higher education or similar ecosystem-based, mission-driven, knowledge-rich organizations. A work history in organizations that have undergone brand transformation, or known for innovation and technological advancement would be of interest.
- A creative, team-oriented and results-focused leader who knows when to adopt, adapt or break the conventional marketing mold, how to unleash creativity to enable innovation, and build trust.
- A relationship-oriented approach to building teams, securing strategic alignment, and inspiring collective achievement
- A degree in any subject. RPI welcomes candidates with diverse educational and experiential backgrounds who demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the relevant domains
- Understanding of the opportunities and challenges, trends and shifts in the higher education sector
- Proven ability to translate vision into actionable strategies, and execute with precision and a keen eye for detail
- Digitally savvy. Sound knowledge of and interest in digital marketing, engagement strategies, and emerging technologies
- Demonstrated analytical acumen and experience using data and insights to inform and optimize strategy, plans and decisions, while recognizing that instinct and anecdotes can also play a significant role
- Excellent communications (presentational, oral and written) skills, including outstanding
ability to craft narratives that touch hearts and minds, and drive action.
- A track record in developing and maintaining an effective professional network, facilitating strategic connections and fostering mutually beneficial relationship

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $300,000 - $350,000

This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
