Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Game Day Operations, is responsible for designing and executing an exceptional fan experience to elevate the visibility and support of our Division I hockey programs and the game day operations of 21 Division III teams. The assistant director will work closely with the Assistant Athletic Director, Communications & Marketing as well as the Director, Ticket and Revenue Generation, to ensure a smooth game day operation that fulfills sponsorship agreements and leaves fans excited about the next home game.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in

Three (3) years of related experience

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrated talent in building and leading cohesive teams
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Excellent creative, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (word, excel, access, Outlook) and graphic design/illustration skills (or willingness to learn)
• Competent in digital broadcasting, or willing to learn
• Ability to prioritize work
• Ability to perform basic financial functions
• Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
• Ability to work in fast paced environment
• Strong attention to detail

Job Duties

  1. Curate and lead in-game experiences for RPI’s Division I hockey through game-day scripting, leading and implementing in-game marketing and fan engagement efforts, including but not limited to in-game music, entertainment, public address, video board, fan engagement camera operators, etc.
  2. Coordinate and lead game day staff consisting of officials, students, staff, and volunteers to ensure a safe environment for Division I hockey games.
  3. Collaborate with RPI TV and ESPN+ to ensure a smooth broadcast for hockey games; set up Hudl streaming platform for RPI Athletic games streamed outside of ESPN+ or RPI TV across the 23 teams.
  4. Act as the liaison with Daktronics, including maintenance and troubleshooting; Design, or have a willingness to learn, videoboard content creation, and ESPN+ streaming content creation.
  5. Serve as a Game Day Administrator, facilitating communication across departments and ensuring efficient execution of all game day logistics (statistics, press box operations, etc.) in support of our 21 Division III programs.
  6. In collaboration with the Director, Marketing & Community Engagement, coordinate promotional activities aimed at increasing student attendance with student groups.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the athletic department’s overall mission and operations.

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $60,406 - $62,500

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
