POSITION TITLE: Multilingual Writing Specialist
POSITION DUTIES: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is looking to hire a Multilingual Writing Specialist for the Office of Student Success in Troy, NY. This position will primarily be responsible for assisting students with their writing assignments, presentations, and visual design projects.
Specifically, the Multilingual Writing Specialist will perform the following duties:
• Tutor students;
• Assist with peer training;
• Participate in workshops and class presentations on communication topics;
• Participate in outreach activities that disseminate information about COMM+D (emails, posters, class presentations, presentations at student/faculty orientations and other campus events) and;
• Coordinate and maintain COMM+D tutoring schedule and website.
REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages and Literature, English, or a related field. The successful candidate must also have proficiency in a second language (as evidenced by completion of a post-secondary degree abroad) and at least one (1) year of experience as a tutor or graduate teaching assistant/teaching assistant, which includes six (6) months of experience with the following:
• Working at a writing center;
• Providing writing resources and writing consultations; and
• Working with research databases.
RATE OF PAY: $53,102 – $66,300/year
