Job Summary
|
The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Facilities, Planning and Campus Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all physical infrastructure, facilities operations, and key campus services. The AVP ensures a safe, sustainable, and well-maintained environment that supports the institute’s academic, research and community missions. The AVP is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of departments, including the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Physical Plant, Custodial and Groundskeeping Services and Campus Planning, Design and Construction.

Minimum Qualifications
|

Bachelor’s degree in related field
-
Ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities management, campus operations, environmental health and safety, or related areas in higher education or large-scale institutional settings
-
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale operations, multi-functional teams, and complex budgets
Relevant combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Representative Job Duties
|
-
Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for facilities and campus services that support institutional priorities.
-
Lead campus master planning efforts in collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders.
-
Oversee capital improvement plans, deferred maintenance strategies, and sustainability initiatives.
-
Serve as the primary advisor to senior leadership on all matters related to physical infrastructure, building operations, and regulatory compliance.

Ensure efficient and cost-effective operations through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices.
-
Develop and manage budgets for all areas of responsibility, ensuring effective use of resources and compliance with institutional policies.

Supervise and mentor a diverse team of directors, managers, and staff across multiple functional areas.
-
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including ADA, OSHA, EPA, and others as applicable.

Lead emergency response planning and business continuity related to campus operations and facilities.

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $225,000
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
