Job Summary

The Director of Constituent Engagement directs all planning and implementation of a comprehensive and integrated, department-wide alumni engagement program on behalf of the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Division of Institute Advancement. The Director is responsible for the development of early student engagement programming, on and off-campus partnerships with Athletics, Fraternities and Sororities, and alumni affinity groups, focusing on earlier engagement of student leaders and alumni through activities with Rensselaer.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Master's preferred)
• Minimum of seven (7) years of related and progressively responsible professional fundraising and management experience including volunteer management preferably in a college, university or academic setting with particular emphasis on alumni or other constituent relations within a research university or a similarly complex enterprise with a comprehensive constituent relations program
• Demonstrated leadership experience including experience building strong, autonomous, and collaborative teams

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

• Comprehensive knowledge in alumni or other constituent relations within a research university or a similarly complex enterprise with a comprehensive constituent relations program.
• Commitment to advancing Rensselaer by raising messages, volunteers, and funds that support institutional priorities.
• Ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external constituencies
• Ability to manage fundraising goals and expectations in a metrics-driven, deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to set priorities while also contributing to team effort in Institute Advancement
• Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects and others.
• Ability to conduct research and assemble data, analyzes information, and prepare effective, accurate and timely reports and other documents to support development activities.
• Ability to design, implement, and continuously improve programs and processes that achieve outcomes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Ability to anticipate and solve problems
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives

Shift

Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

Travel

Occasional overnight travel may be required(10% or less)

Driving

Driving a personal vehicle for non-passenger use

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $115,000 - $120,000 per year

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
