Job Summary
|
Under limited direction, the Developer III develops complex software and leads complex projects. The Developer III is responsible for the technical support of Enterprise and Administrative systems, including application and web implementation and enhancement, maintenance and business process automation and reporting. This position functions independently to identify business needs and implement solutions; providing mentoring, training and helping to develop other technical employees.

Minimum Qualifications
|
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- Four (4) years relevant work experience
- Experience managing multiple projects with multiple people simultaneously

Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
|
- Professional experience in a higher education setting
- Experience with finance and/or accounting software development and support
- RPI's Enterprise and Administrative systems include: Ellucian Banner, Argos, OBI, and others. Experience in any or all of this is helpful, though not required
|
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
|
- Knowledge of multiple programming languages (including SQR, PL-SQL, Java, and LINUX shell-scripting) and proficient in the art of structuring and developing software code
- Well versed with version control systems
- High level troubleshooting and debugging ability
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Extensive technical knowledge of relational databases (such as Oracle) and database concepts, web-based programming technologies and common development tools and techniques
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet goals and deadlines
- Ability to learn quickly, analyze complex issues, and provide advanced troubleshooting
- Ability to diagnose software problems
- Ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with colleagues and users in a diverse environment
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member

- Knowledge and understanding of finance and/or accounting processes and procedures
- Ability to move financial related data to and from disparate systems

Starting Salary/Rate
|
Expected hiring range: $85,000- $96,820 / yr + full benefits
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
